Udhai has broadcast on Radio DRS in Switzerland, BBC TV and Radio France. Udhai made his presence felt while performing with Zakir Hussain on the eve of the 75th birthday celebration of Ravi Shankar. He has accompanied Ravi Shankar on various occasions. Now one of an iconic Tabla player of the country Udhai has performed for the Royal Families of Britain and Sweden. He lived and learned with the Maestro in the age old tradition of "Guru Shiyha Parampara". In 1988, to further his musical knowledge, Udai went to Delhi and became the disciple of the sitar maestro Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar. In 1981, he became a disciple of Kaviraj Ashutosh Bhattacharya. His galaxy of performances have been applauded in USA, Switzerland, various countries in Europe including Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain, besides Japan, Mauritius, France, Russia, Harare, Botswana, Ethiopia and Zambia.īorn in Allahabad, and started learning Tabla and Hinduatani Vocal at the age of seven.
The Federation of Indo- American Associations of Northern California felicitated him with certificate of appreciation for being “an outstanding cultural ambassador of India”, in the field of Kathak dancing, in 1993. Sensing his innate talent his father as his first Guru initiated him into the dance form in 1972.
